To find the Com port number for a scanner, open the Device Manager by:

Windows XP:

1. Click  ‘Windows Start Button’ and right click  ‘My Computer’ button and select properties.
2. Once in ‘System Properties’ window navigate to the hardware tab and click  ‘Device Manager’ button.

Vista and Windows 7:

1. Click  ‘Windows Start Button’ and right click  ‘Computer’ button and select properties.C
2. Click  ‘Device Manager’ Button located on left side of Computer Properties window. If prompted by User Account Control press accept to continue to the Device Manager.

Once the Device Manager has been opened, open the ‘Ports (COM & LPT)’ section under which will be the Com port number in use by the scanner.

Once you have the Com Number for the scanner open the ‘System Setup’ window. This can be done from Reception mode screen by clicking ‘Options>System Setup’:

Once in System Setup Window, navigate to Scanner tab. In the scanner tab, change the Scanner Com Port to the Com Number of the Scanner.
