Printer Label

Label Printers are a common component of a VisitorRego.NET system and there are several necessary steps needed to ensure they function properly with VisitorRego.NET.

After installation, set the new printer as the default label printer for VisitorRego.NET this is done by the ‘System Setup>Printers’ window.

This can be accessed from ‘Options>System Setup’ in reception mode:

Once in the System Setup window navigate to the Printers tab. Change the name of the label printer listed to that of your recently installed printer.

Under this window there are two other options relating to label printers:

Print Preview: When this is checked instead of printing out a label upon registering a print preview of the label will be opened in a separate window.

Use this printer as the emergency Printer: When checked in the case of an emergency the label printer will be used in place of a standard A4 printer to print the emergency visitor list.

Once VisitorRego.NET is set to use the label printer it’s important to configure the new printer to the correct label size that’s its using.

To do this open the ‘Printers Properties  Window’ under the control panel by:

Windows XP:

  1. Click ‘Windows Start Button’ then ‘Control Panel’ button to open Control Panel.
  2. Once in control panel click ‘Printers and Faxes’ link.
  3. Once in ‘Printers and Faxes’ window right click on desired printer and select properties.

Vista:

  1. Click  ‘Windows Start Button’ and then ‘Control Panel’ button to open Control Panel.
  2. In Control Panel under Hardware and Sound click on ‘Printers’ link.
  3. Once in ‘Printers’ window, right click on desired printer and select properties.

Windows 7:

  1. Click  ‘Windows Start Button’  then ‘Control Panel’ button to open Control Panel.
  2. In Control Panel under Hardware and Sound click on ‘View Devices and Printers’ link.
  3. Once in ‘Devices and Printers’ window right click desired printer and select properties.

Under Printer Properties window navigate to ‘Advanced’ tab and click ‘Printing Defaults’ button.

Once in the Printing Defaults window click ‘Advanced’ button to bring up printing default options.

U
nder Advanced options, change ‘Paper Size’ to size appropriate for the labels being used and ‘Halftoning’ to ‘Super Cell’.

Note: If disconnected from its original USB socket and reconnected to a different one, windows will view it as a different printer. If this occurs then the default label printer in VisitorRego.NET will remain as the old printer and the printer settings will revert back to their default values.
